Organisationsnummer Field for Gravity Forms

Organisationsnummer Field for Gravity Forms brings a field for the Swedish company number, the organisationsnummer, into Gravity Forms, the form plugin for WordPress. The field checks the ten-digit number against its check digit on your own server on submission and so catches typos before the number ends up in your data. A check digit is a digit calculated from the other digits that reveals typos. The field also recognizes when a personal identity number was entered instead of a company number.

In the ISO 6523 identifier list, an international list of identifier types for organizations, this number has the scheme number 0007. If you have entered access credentials, the field also asks the Swedish companies registration office Bolagsverket whether the number has been issued.

Who it is for

Who benefits.

The field is for forms in which business customers or suppliers from Sweden enter their details, for example for billing addresses or for onboarding new suppliers. It is also for developers who need a validated organisationsnummer in the settings of their own plugin.

The benefit for you is clean data. Typos and wrong numbers are caught on submission, so your entries contain only numbers in the correct form. Your customer data, your invoices and your e-invoices (invoices as structured files that software can read) can rely on that.

The table shows the two stages of the check. The first always runs, the second you add when you need it.

The field works without access credentials, too. It then checks the number only on your server and does not ask the register.

What the field does for you

  • You find the field Organisationsnummer in the form editor in the field group e-Invoicing Fields and add it to your form like any other field.
  • It checks every number on your server. It must have exactly ten digits, and the check digit must be correct according to the Luhn method, a common calculation method for check digits. It also checks the position at which an organisationsnummer differs from a personal identity number.
  • If you want, it also confirms the number with Bolagsverket. This confirms that the number is not only correctly formed but actually issued. The lookup runs with your own access credentials or through your invoicePress account.
  • Developers get the same check as a field type for the settings pages of their own plugins. They can use the field outside a form, too, and do not have to rebuild the rules themselves.

What it does not do

  • It does not fill in other fields of the form. It does not copy the name or address from the register.
  • It does not accept personal identity numbers. Sole traders in Sweden often use their personal identity number as their identifier; the field rejects such a number.
  • It does not accept the twelve-digit notation with the century in front.
  • It does not store the responses from Bolagsverket.
  • It does not make your form depend on Bolagsverket. If Bolagsverket is unreachable at the moment or the access credentials are missing, your customer can still submit the form.
