IČO Field for Gravity Forms (Czech Republic)

IČO Field for Gravity Forms (Czech Republic) brings a field for the Czech company number IČO (Identifikační číslo osoby) into Gravity Forms, the form plugin for WordPress. The field checks the eight-digit number against its check digit on your own server on submission and so catches typos before the number ends up in your data. A check digit is a digit calculated from the other digits that reveals typos.

In the ISO 6523 identifier list, an international list of identifier types for organizations, this number has the scheme number 0154. If you want, the field also asks the Czech business register ARES whether the number has been issued.

Who it is for

Who benefits.

The field is for forms in which business customers or suppliers from the Czech Republic enter their details, for example for billing addresses or for onboarding new suppliers. It is also for developers who need a validated IČO in the settings of their own plugin.

The benefit for you is clean data. Typos and wrong numbers are caught on submission, so your entries contain only numbers in the correct form. Your customer data, your invoices and your e-invoices (invoices as structured files that software can read) can rely on that.

The table shows the two stages of the check. The first always runs, the second you add when you need it.

What the field does for you

  • You find the field IČO (Czech Republic) in the form editor in the field group e-Invoicing Fields and add it to your form like any other field.
  • It checks every number on your server. It must have exactly eight digits, and the last digit must match the others as the check digit.
  • If you want, it also confirms the number in the ARES register. This confirms that the number is not only correctly formed but actually issued. You do not need a key for this. Alternatively, the lookup runs through your invoicePress account.
  • Developers get the same check as a field type for the settings pages of their own plugins. They can use the field outside a form, too, and do not have to rebuild the rules themselves.

What it does not do

  • It does not fill in other fields of the form. It does not copy the name or address from the register.
  • It does not check Slovak IČO numbers. The Slovak number looks exactly the same but has its own check digit and is kept in a different register. The IČO field for Slovakia is meant for those.
  • It does not store the responses from ARES.
  • It does not make your form depend on ARES. If ARES is unreachable at the moment, your customer can still submit the form.
