IČO Field for Gravity Forms (Slovakia)

IČO Field for Gravity Forms (Slovakia) brings a field for the Slovak company number IČO (Identifikačné číslo organizácie) into Gravity Forms, the form plugin for WordPress. The field checks the eight-digit number against its check digit on your own server on submission and so catches typos before the number ends up in your data. A check digit is a digit calculated from the other digits that reveals typos.

In the ISO 6523 identifier list, an international list of identifier types for organizations, this number has the scheme number 0158. If you want, the field also asks the ORSF service, a freely accessible service with the data of the Slovak commercial register, whether the number is listed there.

Who it is for

Who benefits.

The field is for forms in which business customers or suppliers from Slovakia enter their details, for example for billing addresses or for onboarding new suppliers. It is also for developers who need a validated Slovak IČO in the settings of their own plugin.

You gain two things. Typos and wrong numbers are caught as soon as the form is submitted, not later in your data. And your entries contain only numbers in the correct form. That is a reliable basis for your customer data, your invoices and your e-invoices, meaning invoices as structured files that software can read.

The check works in two stages. The first always runs, the second only if you switch it on.

What the field does for you

  • You find the field IČO (Slovakia) in the form editor in the field group e-Invoicing Fields and add it to your form like any other field.
  • It checks every number on your server. It must have exactly eight digits, and the last digit must match the others as the check digit.
  • If you want, it also confirms the number with the ORSF service. You then know the number is really registered and does not just look right. You do not need a key for this. Alternatively, the lookup runs through your invoicePress account.
  • If the online check is switched on, it also accepts the very few real numbers whose check digit does not match, provided the register confirms them. That way you do not turn away a customer whose number is genuine.
  • Developers use the same check as a field type on the settings pages of their own plugins. It is available outside a form, too, and nobody has to rebuild the rules.

What it does not do

  • It does not fill in other fields of the form. It does not copy the name or address from the register.
  • It does not store the responses from ORSF.
  • It does not make your form depend on ORSF. If ORSF is unreachable at the moment, the field still accepts a number with a correct check digit.
