Organisasjonsnummer Field for Gravity Forms

Organisasjonsnummer Field for Gravity Forms brings a field for the Norwegian company number, the organisasjonsnummer, into Gravity Forms, the form plugin for WordPress. The field checks the nine-digit number against its check digit on your own server on submission and so catches typos before the number ends up in your data. A check digit is a digit calculated from the other digits that reveals typos.

In the ISO 6523 identifier list, an international list of identifier types for organizations, this number has the scheme number 0192. If you want, the field also asks the Enhetsregisteret whether the number has been issued. The Enhetsregisteret is the Norwegian company register and part of the Brønnøysundregistrene.

Who it is for

Who benefits.

The field is for forms in which business customers or suppliers from Norway enter their details, for example for billing addresses or for onboarding new suppliers. It is also for developers who need a validated organisasjonsnummer in the settings of their own plugin.

For you, this means: typos and wrong numbers are caught the moment the form is submitted, not when you start working with the data. What gets saved is in the correct form. That is a reliable basis for customer data, invoices and e-invoices, meaning invoices as structured files that software can read.

Two stages work together. The check on your server always runs, the lookup after it only if you switch it on.

What the field does for you

  • You find the field Organisasjonsnummer in the form editor in the field group e-Invoicing Fields and add it to your form like any other field.
  • It checks every number on your server. It must have exactly nine digits, and the last digit must match the others as the check digit.
  • If you want, it also confirms the number in the Enhetsregisteret. That way you know the number is not just correctly formed but actually issued. You do not need a key for this. Alternatively, the lookup runs through your invoicePress account.
  • If you write your own plugins, you get the same check as a field type for their settings pages. You can use the field outside a form, too, without rebuilding the rules yourself.

What it does not do

  • It does not fill in other fields of the form. It does not copy the name or address from the register.
  • It does not reject a company just because it is in bankruptcy. The register lists such companies, too.
  • It does not store the responses from the register.
  • It does not make your form depend on the register. If the register is unreachable at the moment, your customer can still submit the form.
